Unit 15:Mathematical symbols

Read the following text carefully and press Continue when you've read it and understood everything.

Mathematical symbols

To finish this unit we'll learn to type several mathematical symbols used in basic operations.

The symbols are:

  • the plus sign (+)
  • the minus sign (-)
  • the multiply sign (*)
  • the divide sign (/)
  • the percent sign (%)
  • the equals sign (=)

Here's where all these symbols are located on the keyboard:

Teclado:US/UK

Both plus (+) and minus (-) are typed directly. For every other symbol you must hold Shift ⇧.

Below is an animation showing how to press them all:

Teclado:US/UK
Left Hand
Right Hand

The numeric keypad on the right also has many of these, but keypad should be used when entering lots of numbers. You must do some exercises on the main keyboard, with your fingers on home row, moving them as shown in the previous animation.

Let's practice!
